Joyce S. Kaye (a.k.a. The Computer Spirit) is a people person AND computer geek who understands business and computer applications and thrives on the challenge of communicating that understanding clearly.

Writing with Spirit, her diverse experience in finance, transportation, health care, IT, and academia serves her well in helping clients clearly present, on paper, business processes and operational procedures.

Joyce has written system use case documents, user guides, SOPs and other technical documents for use by system developers and for production activities. She has interviewed Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders for business requirements gathering and translation into functional requirements.

• Developed instructor support materials (PowerPoint presentation slides, lesson plans, test banks, customized assessments and solutions) for Labyrinth Publications, a recognized leader in Microsoft® Office and operative system courseware.


• Quality assurance reviewer for Labyrinth Publications.


• Co-authored Labyrinth Publications’ Microsoft® Office Outlook 2003: Essentials Course book.


• Developed user reference manuals for Microsoft® Office software use (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows) for private clients, both individuals and small businesses.


• Developed and executed a training program with accompaniment manuals for the faculty professional development computer training program for the St. Francis Cathedral School (Santa Fe, NM).


• Developed and executed a training program with accompaniment manuals for New Mexico CultureNet to provide local Native American artists with computer skills to enable them to sell their work on the Internet.


• Designed the physician database and drafted its documentation guide for the Department of Planning and Business Development at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York.


• Documented the procedures for creating a logical, meaningful package of MIS reports for use by American Express Bank’s senior management team.


• Authored the instruction and programming manual for the American Express Bank NY Agency Operations Service Tracking system.


• Designed and created a standard operational manual template for the Hyatt worldwide luxury hotel chain.


• Drafted by-laws for numerous volunteer organizations.
